I am so excited that we are now so close to Thanksgiving. I think Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I really like it when the trees change colors and there's a nip in the air. Plus, the smell of fall is just wonderful! Not only the leaves, but also the foods--cinnamon, pumpkin, cranberries, etc. We tried to take some autumn pictures just to remember the beauty of the season. Plus, they will help the kids remember what it is like when there are season changes (which we won't see in Colombia).
We went to a park to see the leaves changing color and decided to make a leaf pile. We piled up the leaves and then set Marcos on top. Unfortunately, it wasn't solid so he sank through right to the bottom of the pile! So, we lost our baby in the leaf pile. Fortunately, it was easier searching for him than it would be searching for a needle in a haystack! He wasn't too upset about it either. Just surprised, I think.
We also tried running and jumping into the leaves, but we didn't do that for long--I never knew that leaf piles don't break your fall. . .OUCH!
Marcos is starting to learn to walk. He takes a couple of steps at a time (mostly if he wants something). He falls down a lot, but he's starting to get better at balancing--until he turns his head to look at something other than where he's going. :-)
This next week we'll be celebrating his first birthday. It is nice to be able to share this milestone with family. It's interesting to remember Lucas and Ellie's first birthdays. Lucas was running around the park after a ball, and Ellie took her first step. I wonder what Marcos will do to make the day memorable?
