Boyd Bear Tracks

This blog has been created so you can track us Boyd bears down and peek in at what we're doing. Just don't touch the porridge!

Now, in school, Lucas is supposed to write a poem every week (for four weeks). We're working on imagery. His first poem was about Boomer.

Boomer

Boomer is dark and silky like a bat.

He's slobbery like a pig.

He's playful like a kid.

This last week, Lucas wrote a poem about the cross. He even drew a picture of Jesus on the cross with smiley faces all around it. When I asked him why he had drawn all the smiley faces, he said that it was because we are happy since God was forgiving our sins. This is the poem he wrote:

The Cross

It's wooden.

It feel rough like cement.

It looks like an "X" that's upside down.

The blood runs like water.

The cross has holes from Jesus' thorns.

On another note, this week we're taking care of a friend's dog. She's a Springer Spaniel (named Wanda). The first couple of days were not very fun! I think she's supposed to be housebroken,
but she didn't show her training in our house! That is quite unfortunate since the whole house is carpeted :-(. Also, she's used to being loose in the house, but I decided she would sleep in Boomer's kennel. So, the first couple of nights she whined a lot. And now, at about 5:30 am she starts whining to go out (sigh!). Guess who gets to let her out. . .the one who offered to take care of her--me! And, to top it all off, she won't use the grass to go potty. She just goes in the garage (right near the front door!). Needless to say, taking care of her has really made me appreciate Boomer! He's a jewel compared to her! I'm hoping that Jon will start appreciating Boomer more, but I think he's hoping that this will teach me not to offer my services as a pet-sitter! :-)

We've also had a couple of casualties (and I'm not sure why). Saul died a couple of weeks ago and then yesterday I discovered that Pox had died too. The kids seemed a little sad, but I think they quickly forgot about them. The novelty of shrimp has kind of worn off. Although, I think we do have a couple of baby shrimp. At least, that's what I hope they are; right now they look like little worms.

Today we're going to color Easter eggs. The day I tried to hardboil the eggs, the gas tank ran out. So, now I've finally cooked them and now we can work on coloring them. The day after Easter
but, oh well.

We did have a little program (I guess you could call it) on Palm Sunday. The kids all carried little branches and marched around the church singing. It was kind of hard to hear them; and, the leader of the parade got embarassed and led them into the classroom before we were done with the song. :-) However, they seemed to have a good time and the parents really enjoyed it.
