Boyd Bear Tracks

This blog has been created so you can track us Boyd bears down and peek in at what we're doing. Just don't touch the porridge!

We have now said good-bye to Bungee. He put a nail in his coffin (so to speak) when he bit Jon last Saturday (although, Jon didn't grab him very gently). But then, he sealed it shut when he attacked and bit Ellie on Sunday. I know he was just playing and thought she looked like something nice to chase. But, it had been happening all too frequently (even though he was getting more exercise going outside). So, I called around and found someone who would take him. Actually it's the church in Tenjo (out in the country). They needed a cat because they'd been having trouble with mice.

The youth were still painting on Saturday, so we went back to the mall again. Once again we went to a pet store. We saw some really cute kittens. The lady asked me if we wanted to look at them and I made the mistake of saying "yes". Of course, after holding the kitties the kids wanted one. They both wanted a little black and white one (but, Ellie forgets what the color is so she calls it the "brown" one). I told the kids that I was just going to ask how much they cost, and that we weren't going to get one. At that time we were thinking about maybe finding a new home for Bungee. I almost did get the kitty, but I thought we should give Bungee another chance, and Jon wouldn't want two cats!

I should mention that on the way home Lucas said that it didn't matter to him if I got another dog, a donkey, a horse, or another cat as long as we could replace Bungee. I had liked a little white cat and he was expressing that it didn't matter which one we got, he just wanted to replace Bungee. But, it was a rather dramatic way to express his feelings on the matter!:-)

After another "attack" on Ellie, I decided that Bungee really wasn't going to work out for us. I finally got to work and found Bungee a new home. On Tuesday he went to live on the church "farm". I was the only one who was sad to see him go. In fact, when I woke up on Wednesday I really missed him jumping up on the bed and purring while he chased my feet under the covers. I had gotten my wish to have a cat of my own (except, he really was ONLY mine--he didn't like anyone else). Oh well, he'll probably be happier chasing after mice and having more room to run. Plus, he won't be pestered as much by people (like two little kids disturbing his nap or something of the sort).

The kids are definitely happy because they get to get another kitty. This time I'll make sure that the kitty has lots of cuddle time so that it's more personable. And, hopefully I can visit Bungee from time to time to make sure that he's doing well.

Looking back, it is kind of funny. Every Saturday we went to the mall and brought home another pet (except this last one). First it was Beau, and then the shrimp, and then a kitten (almost :-)). Good thing they finished painting! Who knows what would happen if we continued to go to the mall every Saturday! We would probably have a house full of animals :-)! Actually, I'm planning on going to the mall tomorrow (or maybe Sunday) to see if the "brown" kitty is still available. I should do it on Saturday, just to continue the tradition :-)! So, there may be another blog soon about a new kitty :-).
