Boyd Bear Tracks

This blog has been created so you can track us Boyd bears down and peek in at what we're doing. Just don't touch the porridge!

Well the tree is up! It was fun to actually have helpers this year. Before they were either too little or we were in transition and didn't decorate. :-)

Lucas and Eliana were all excited to find that they have some of their own decorations. The tree is probably a little heavy on one side (they didn't put any decorations on the back side), but it looks nice. Bungee likes chewing on it too :-(. Especially the shiny tinsel. At least he hasn't tried to climb the tree yet!

I pulled out the manger scene and we put the baby Jesus away along with the wise men (they haven't arrived yet). The manger is right out where the kids can play with it; so, they are enjoying moving the pieces around. Their comments when we put the baby and wise men away were pretty funny. "Mommy, can you tell me the story about Jesus." "Can we take the baby down and play with it?" --No, because we're pretending He's not born yet.-- "But, can we take the baby down and you can tell us the story of Jesus?"
Now they're all excited because it's going to be Jesus' birthday.

Although, Lucas said that he wanted to go back to the States for Christmas because he wants snow! We're actually entering "summer" down here, so it's starting to get sunny and hot--no snow in the forecast :-).

For Thanksgiving we actually had turkey and cranberry sauce. They didn't have those things here before (the cranberry sauce was actually picked up by a missionary in Ecuador). I tried to make pumkin pie. I found something that looked like a pumpkin and cooked it up. I guess it was actually some sort of squash. But, after I added all the spices, it did taste like pumpkin. :-)

The kids put on a little program for the missionaries. They shared some of their verses and then sang a funny song about a sad turkey. They did really well! After lunch, Tim Wheeler (another missionary kid) started playing "dinosaur" with the kids. He was the dinosaur and the kids were the hunters. Here's a picture of them "taming" the dinosaur :-).
