Is Washing dishes worship? It is if you're doing it with the right attitude. As some of you know, something I really dislike doing is washing dishes! It just occured to me today as I was washing the leftover breakfast and lunch dishes--plus, the dishes from making supper (did I mention I don't like washing dishes? :-))--I could be worshipping God! I've struggled with this on and off throughout my life. Not just with washing dishes, but doing the mundane chores. Sometimes it seems so much more "spiritual" to be out doing "ministry"--teaching Sunday school, directing a kids choir, doing a Bible study, or whatever. Then, God brings to mind the fact that I can be doing "ministry" while doing all the mundane chores. It really was a liberating thought! Instead of mindlessly slapping soap on the dishes, I could worship God :-).
I've been talking to the kids about the fact that it makes God happy when we do what we're supposed to be doing. And, I can apply it to myself! When I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing (washing dishes!) I make God happy! I've learned this lesson before, but it was neat that God brought it to mind again today. I just thought I'd share :-). Especially with all of you who are "ministering" (i.e. doing your chores).:-)
I thought I'd also include some pictures of the kids on their bikes. They especially like their helmets (which makes me happy!).
