Ellie decided that she wanted to have a Musical party. I made invitations out of old CDs. I did write a warning on the invitation that it was only to be used as an invitation. Hopefully they saw the fine print and didn't try to use it in their computer or CD player!!
The only bummer about the party was that the electricity went off that morning. So, we couldn't do the "music video" activity on the computer (I wanted to record each guest singing Happy Birthday--karaoke). Oh well, they played in the park and had fun anyway. And, thankfully, it was a cooler day since we couldn't run any fans.
I made a CD walkman cake. It was supposed to be a Boom-Box, but the cake didn't rise as much as I thought it would. Just so you know. . .those are earphones on the cake :-)!

For fun, we played "London Bridge is falling down," Musical Islands (safer than musical chairs), and Musical Statues (when the music stops you freeze). We also made Kazoos out of toilet paper tubes. They didn't work too well. Maybe the wax paper wasn't thick enough. So, even though not everything turned out exactly as planned, everyone had a good time!
Lucas, Marcos, and Jason were the only boys there. I think we've moved into the all-girl and all-boy party years (at least with the older two).
We are looking at probably three more weeks of school. It's hard to believe we're almost done! It's also amazing to see the progress they've made. Ellie is doing much better at reading! Lucas has become a book worm. And, I'm getting to the level where I have to stop and think before I answer a math question (or look up the answer in the teacher book :-)!).
Marcos is starting to talk more. Even though, he pronounces words as if he had marbles in his mouth :-). Today he said "Dase ah Bah-bah bed. My moon!" -- Jason is on Lucas' bed in my room. It was pretty funny! The other day, after he ate, he said "Tank to, dad!" That made Jon's day! I think it's the first child that has thanked him for his cooking without being prompted! He loves balloons and was all excited to see so many on Ellie's birthday. It was a fun surprise for him--I decorated the night before.
Jason loves to look at people's faces and smile. Just today I noticed that he found his toes. He's starting to grab things now (becoming dangerous :-)--especially if it's someone's hair!). He loves to grab his burp rag and flap it around. He also loves a bright noisy butterfly that crinkles.
Here are some more of our flowers:

This I discovered is called a Rain Lily or a Fairy Lily. I bought two of them and they just looked like a clump of grassy leaves. Apparently, when it's going to rain, it flowers. We've had a couple of flowers but they don't last long. So, when I saw this one, I ran out and snapped a picture. They are lovely!! And to think that they were just for "filler" between the other plants! I forgot to mention that Jon and I each picked a plant too. Jon picked Oregano (not the same variety as we were used to) and I picked a red Bouganvilla. I may get pictures of those too just so you can see them. However, Boomer has been digging in the dirt around my Bouganvilla and it doesn't seem to like it too much. So, it's not very pretty right now.
