I know, I know. . .it has taken a long time to post pictures. I know some of you were beginning to get anxious! I could give some good excuses (I think), but I'll spare you the details (and leave more free space on the web :-)).
Eliana's party went relatively well. I think I invited too many people (her whole Sunday School class). I've decided I won't be doing that for Lucas' birthday :-). Besides the fact that here (for some reason I haven't been able to figure out), extra people show up at parties. Uninvited guests just show up and drop in on the party (in this case some people I didn't even know!). I suppose they want to share in the "joy" of the event. Fortunately, I had already experienced this phenomenon in Costa Rica so I was somewhat prepared (I made extra--the flower cake).
Eliana was really excited and was jumping around and singing "Feliz CumpleaƱos" at the top of her lungs. I was a little worried about the punch bowl being knocked over!
All the kids were intrigued by the green "colored sugar" around the flower. They kept dipping their fingers in it and licking it. I guess they had never seen colored sugar before. I'm sure some of them had a sugar high later on that day!
Lucas and Ellie were happy that their friends, Daniela and Camila, were able to come to the party. It's so funny how they talk about their "friends" all the time. Lucas and Eliana pretend to talk to the girls on their "cell phone". They will have a whole conversation. . .with nobody! It's pretty cute.
The other day we went to the vet to see the kitties. Eliana picked the orange and white striped one. She keeps asking me when we're going to get our kitty. Hopefully it'll be old enough to be away from it's mother in July.
I found a website with cat names and was reading the list off to Ellie so she could pick a name for the kitty. She liked the name Bungee. So, we'll have a Boomer (Boomerang) and a Bungee (Bungee jumper) :-). Nothing like alliteration :-).
