I feel like I've dropped off the face of the earth (at least Blog-wise). After my "griping" Blog, I've wanted to write a "praise" Blog, but we didn't have easy internet access.
After having the record for the most lost bags, we got our shipment out in record time (about 3 hours--the Carters' took a week!). Then we found a house we liked (smaller than most of the ones we looked at) and started the process to get that. Apparently, there's a lot more work involved than just saying, "Yes, we'd like to rent it". We had to go through a whole lot of paperwork, and then, Jon was rejected!! They needed 3 months of bank statements, but it had to be a bank here in Colombia (we'd only been here 3 weeks!). So, we went through another long process and finally got the house. God is good!!
Now we've been shopping every day (most ladies dream, but it's beginning to be a nightmare). We've got most of our furniture, we just need a couple more bookshelves! I was pulling out the boxes of books and found that 13 of the 87 were labeled "Jon's books"! That's not even counting "Holly's books" and "Kid's books". I guess we brought a lot of books :-)!
I've been looking all over for my pans, but they're not on my list, so maybe I didn't bring them. That's what happens when you you've packed a year and a couple of months ago! :-) Fortunately, the pans are not too expensive here, so I was able to get a few.
Yesterday, we were putting up some shelves. Here you have to drill into the wall because they're all concrete. We heard a big crash and discovered that Eliana had pulled her shelf over on top of herself. Fortunately, it's not a heavy shelf so she wasn't really hurt, just mostly scared. But, we had to drill some more holes to tack her shelf into the wall.
Ellie is pretty funny when she prays. One day she prayed for every item on her plate (thank you dod (God) for hotdog, chips, milk, etc.). Then, she said, "Thank you dod for mommy working my room, and, and Lucas room, and, and Daddy room." It felt nice to be appreciated :-). At least someone noticed that I was working hard :-)! Plus, it was really cute!
Lucas is happy because I found all his plastic animals. He's been talking about them ever since we got here. Yes, he remembered them! He's been a big helper. He's great at picking up and organizing toys (as long as he's the one who got them out, he doesn't like putting Ellie's away!). He has some shelves in his room and so far he's kept the toys pretty organized!
Today I think we're going to look at cars. We've been using the mission van, but at the end of the month some other missionaries have it reserved. Just one more shopping trip :-(. I never thought I would say this, but I'm tired of shopping! I am thankful, though, that God has abundantly provided for all of our needs. An added blessing is that He has done it through YOU!! Thank you to all of you who gave and are giving toward our ministry!!
