Well, we finished the first quarter of school. I'm hoping to get in another 15 days before the baby comes. It's been difficult because Ellie was sick for several days last week. It appears that she had a stomach bug. But, she's all better now.
She's quite a difficult patient to treat :-)! She doesn't like jello, juice, or Pedialyte. Fortunately, she will drink blue Powerade :-), and eat crackers. Otherwise, she would have been on an all water diet!
A couple of days ago she read her first book! It only has one word sentences, but she sounded them out. She's so proud! She keeps wanting to read the book to us over and over again. This morning before I got up, she came in and asked if she could read her book to me :-)! It was cute!
Lucas is getting to be a pro at reading. He's been reading stories out of a kids' bible, and he's been reading them very fluently! I don't often have to remind him to read fluently anymore (like last year). He's been doing really well in Math too! We switched Math programs and I wasn't sure how that would turn out, but he's doing really well! I wouldn't say that he "enjoys" school, but I can see that he is making progress.
Both of them are very excited about their baby brother. They keep telling me they can't wait for him to be born. We'll see how long that excitement lasts :-)! Ellie even said she would help me change diapers. I don't know if she realizes what she is offering to do. She doesn't even like to look at dog poop. When I clean it up, she holds her nose and makes comments about the smell (sounds like someone else I know. . .initials HAD :-))! So, I don't think she'll be changing diapers.
And for those of you who have been wanting a picture. . .Here it it! It's not a side view, but a friend of mine did take a side view one (if I ever remember to ask for a copy of it). This one was taken at a shower the church ladies held for me. I didn't know that you have a shower for just about every baby here. I thought it was just for the first one. It was very thoughtful of them to show their love and support.
