We really haven't been doing too much "fun" stuff lately (unless you call school fun?). It has been raining a lot here. In fact, in many areas of the country, people have had to be evacuated because of the rising water. Our house isn't really that near any rivers so I don't think we'll have to evacuate. We may want to though. The breeze has been blowing pretty steady from across the pasture. Right now there is a cow in the field and the smell is beginning to permeate the house (there are quite a few flies too!). I guess I shouldn't complain. I always wanted to live on a farm :-)!
We had a field team meeting a couple of weeks before Ellie's birthday, so I decided to make the cake for the "snack" time. Earlier, we had agreed with the kids that it's Lucas' turn to have the party this year. So, I figured this was a way to not have a bunch of leftover cake (we did though, because I had to use 2 cake mixes)! In the pictures, the ones of Ellie and the cake are about 2 weeks before her birthday.
She was very patient because I told her that it was only going to be "cake day" and that we would wait until her actual birthday to open presents. She didn't whine at all, she just spent her days talking about the Pool that she was going to get! I let her pick out the doll as part of her present and then something to go with the doll. She picked a pool. So, she knew what her present was and talked about it constantly while she waited for the day she actually got it :-)!
One of her presents was a weaving loom. She actually did pretty well at weaving. She made a little pot holder. Well, most of it! She got tired of weaving after a while so Lucas did some weaving--until the weaving hook broke. Then I finished it off. So, it was a cooperative effort :-). I was just surprised that she could actually follow my directions and weave all by herself! I guess she's growing up on me! In my next post I'll upload the pictures and a movie.
