Boyd Bear Tracks

This blog has been created so you can track us Boyd bears down and peek in at what we're doing. Just don't touch the porridge!

Finally, after about two months, we have phone and internet service. The Carters said that we had it coming :-). So much that they fought with when they first got here was smooth sailing for us when we came. Now, we were the ones that had to fight "the system". It was a big headache because we got the runaround every time we went to ask what was going on. But, PRAISE THE LORD, we finally are connected!

Yesterday, we just said goodbye to Jon´s parents. They were here for two weeks. Jon and I took the opportunity to "getaway" for our 10 year anniversary (it´s really not until May, but we thought we´d do it now). We were only gone for a couple of days and everyone did great without us!

We went to Medellin which is one of the main cities of Colombia. It´s a city with a lot of industry. We stayed in a hotel in the center of town, right next to the train. Fortunately, it´s an electric train so it wasn´t too loud at night. Unfortunately, I got sick the last day so we didn´t do very much sightseeing that day. Too bad, we missed the zoo! Here are some pictures:

View from our hotel room.
You can see the train track was just below our room (on the 7th floor).

We climbed up these stairs to get to the top of this hill. I was huffin´and puffin´before we were even halfway up! The funny thing was, there was this lady further up hopping up the stairs like a frog and doing all kinds of exercises! She didn´t seem to be winded at all! I told myself she probably does it every day and so she´s used to it :-)!

The one and only picture we got of the two of us :-)!

While Jon´s parents were here, we had to keep up with schoolwork, so we didn´t do a whole lot of sightseeing. I guess we really saw most of the sights the last time they were here. However, we did manage to take them to "hot country" for a day. The kids had fun playing with them in the pool. Grandma taught Ellie to float on her back! Of course, she does it with her "floatys" on, but still. . .leaning back and floating is quite an accomplishment! Here´s a picture of the kids in the pool at the missions conference--they look the same :-):

And, here´s the latest family picture from the missions conference:
