BEFORE HAIRCUT--FUZZY HEAD

AFTER HAIRCUT--HOW STYLISH!

I finally gave Ellie her first haircut on September 29. I didn't really want to cut it since I like putting pig-tails in her hair, but someone told me it might make it stronger to cut off the weak ends. She did really well!! Part of it may have been because I promised her a candy when I was done. Of course, Lucas heard me and had to remind me that he sat very still for his haircut so he deserved a candy too!! :-)

At the beginning of October I went on a ladies retreat planned by the Institute. It was really fun (but also pretty cold and rainy). Jon said the kids did really well. Ellie woke up at midnight and was asking for me, but Jon took her in to our room to show her I wasn't there and she went right back to sleep.

On Monday I had a ladies tea at our house. The ladies at the park do one about every two months, so I offered to have it at my house. It was interesting to try and find enough chairs for everyone. I practically moved the furniture from all around the house out to the living room so there would be enough chairs. Jon said it looked like we could have a house church :-). Of course I didn't have all the ingredients for what I wanted to make so I had to run to the grocery store. I got back just in time to get it started cooking and then the ladies started to come! Jon took the kids to our favorite mall (it has a children's play place, and an arcade downstairs). He's been super dad lately :-)!! He did get a couple of looks (he said). Probably because "Tico" men usually don't watch the kids. They tell me that if a father has to take care of the kids he usually takes them to his mothers house or his mother-in-law's house so she can watch them :-)!!

I have been playing soccer two nights a week now. It's good exercise! Lucas and Ellie also like to play "futbol". They're pretty good at kicking the ball too!

This weekend we're planning on going to the Arenal volcano. I hope we can see it because it may be shrouded in clouds. Jon talked me into going on the bus again (about $3 a ticket as opposed to $75 to rent a van). I think it's about a 4 hour trip. I made sure to buy Dramamine for the kids (and me)!! The pharmacist told me it may cause drowsiness--I say, the more the better!! :-)
