Boyd Bear Tracks

This blog has been created so you can track us Boyd bears down and peek in at what we're doing. Just don't touch the porridge!

Apparently we have now entered the "really" rainy season. We've been in the rainy season for a while, but until now it hasn't seemed to rain very much. Now, it is raining every day! It starts after lunch and continues for the rest of the day (usually). Since we don't have a dryer I try to get the laundry out at about 8 a.m. so it will dry before lunch. I know, I know--laundry before eight in the morning?!! I've talked to some people who do the laundry the night before so they can hang it out the next morning. That may be something to try :-)!

But actually, with my title for this blog, I was referring to pictures. It seemed like for a while I didn't post any pictures and now I'm posting a bunch of them. :-)

We're taking care of a stray cat for a week. The Reillys found him, but he didn't get along with their other cat (or the dog for that matter). So, since they were going to be gone for the week (in meetings) they asked us to take care of him until they can find another home for him. Jon said short-term care was ok, but not long-term (keeping him until we leave in December :-)).

Tia (Reilly) said she had been calling the cat "Jack". We ended up calling him "Jack-Jack" (like the little baby in the Incredibles; Lucas liked that movie--something to do with super-heroes). He's a really nice, friendly cat; except when he's playing and bites and scratches. However, his friendliness can be a problem since he's often underfoot, and. . .

This morning at 4:30 a.m. Jack-Jack went in to sleep with the kids. His purring woke Lucas up and scared him and he yelled out "Mommy, the cat's in here!" Of course, that woke Ellie up and she began to cry! So, "mommy" went to the rescue and lay down with the kids (and the cat) hoping everyone could go back to sleep. Lucas was having a grand old time petting the cat and giggling because Jack-Jack was nuzzling him. This of course made Ellie curious so she would sit up and look over to see what was going on. Needless to say, no one fell back to sleep (unless Jon did :-)). All that to say, having a pet can make it hard to get a good night's sleep! The kids do love to check out where the cat is all the time and play with him (flipping a sock around).

Saturday, Jon and I went to help clean the church. The Central America-Caribbean conference for ABWE is here this year so there were a lot of missionaries in church on Sunday :-). Dr. Loftis and his wife were here too. It was good to see some former acquaintances :-). Marina came and watched the kids. She wouldn't let us pay her because she said watching the kids was her gift of love, and anyway being with them was payment enough. How sweet!! We are definitely going to miss her! They had a great time and (you grandparents will be glad to know) were thoroughly spoiled!! :-) She also said that they were speaking a lot of Spanish (of course, because they know that's all she understands--they still speak to me in English).

Time seems to be passing quickly. We're almost into October and we'll be leaving in December! We appreciate so much your prayers for us and your frequent communications.
